Some information regarding playoff structuring
In Flag, Intro Bantam and Bantam the playoffs will be the same as last year except the losers of the first round games will play a third place game. In the top three divisions, the top eight teams will make the top bracket. This will be a three week playoff. This bracket will be seeded 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5. The higher seeded team will be the home team. This bracket will have a consolation bracket. There will also be a third place game and a seventh place game so each team in this bracket will play three games. The rest of the teams will be in the lower bracket. In SB and JR there will be four teams left so they will each play a three week round robin. In SR there will be a six team bracket which will have a bye for some teams
The week 10 games will all be Super Bowls. Every team should get the opportunity to play in a Superbowl except in IB where we have and odd number of teams. Each Superbowl winner will get a medal. The first place game will be the A superbowl. Third place will be B, consolation will be C and seventh place will be D, etc.

Beginning in 2007, in order to participate as a coach in any capacity, parents will be required to attend mandatory coaching clinics. Our Board of Directors has pledged to ensure that each boy this season is provided with the best possible experience, regardless of the team that he plays for. In order to achieve this goal, the league will be requiring all prospective coaches to attend a clinic presented by the Coppell High School Football coaching staff under the direction of Coach Fuller. The planned date for the clinic is Friday, May 4th, 2007 from 3-6 pm. The event will be video taped, and attendance at the clinic or a “make up” video presentation of the clinic will be a requirement for coaching in 2007. Additionally, all coaches will be required to attend a pre-season clinic sponsored by CYFA. CYFA needs to compile a list of coaches planning to attend. Please use the link at Coaching Application .

It has been reported that as many as 65% of children show up for practice and games already dehydrated putting them at an increased rate for heat related illness. As our season begins it is important to be aware of the safety guidelines and symptoms to keep our children safe.
The National Athletic Trainers Association published a Parents' and Coaches' Guide to Dehydration and Other Heat Illnesses that all parents should read. It can be found on our website in our forms section. Please take a moment to download and share with your youth athlete.

To ensure that you are receiving email from CYFA, you should do a couple of things.
· Business emails tend to work better when registering players. Many major ISPs are looking for new ways to block SPAM, CYFA has had problems with a couple of them, including Yahoo and SBCGlobal. Parents with these email address should contact the secretary and they can test it for you.
· Make sure that if you use Junk Email filters that you create exceptions for the domain: coppellyouthfootball.org
