COPPELL YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION

Coaches and Team Communicators

Coaches

Each team will have one head coach and at least one assistant coach and up to 5 sideline passes. No one other than coaches (and sideline passes) and CYFA board members will be allowed on the sideline. Coaches are responsible for

  • Managing CYFA equipment
  •  Scheduling and running practices
  • Facilitating gameplay
  • Complete and submit "Game Record Sheets" at the end of each game (found in the Coaches' Corner on the NTFL Website)

Coaching requirements include:

  • Signed Code of Ethics
  • Head coaches must live in CYFA boundaries
  • Criminal Background Check - anyone on sidelines
  • Must attend NTFL Coaches Meeting - head and assistant coach
  • "Heads Up Football" certification (provided by NTFL for all tackle coaches)
  • USA Football Flag certification (online for all flag coaches)

Team Communicators

In order to assist the coach with communications and organization, each team will designate a Team Communicator. This parent will be responsible for:

  • Sharing updates from CYFA board
  • Promoting CYFA events and volunteer opportunities
  • Planning and communicating events or exchanges with cheerleaders (homecoming, end of year, etc.)
  • Assisting coach with management of off-field tasks

The team communicator will not be allowed on the sideline unless they have fulfilled the requirements above for an assistant coach or sideline pass.

Game Day Volunteers

CYFA only happens with volunteers.  With just a little time, you can help make CYFA a success every Game Day.  All roles are no experience needed.

Shifts are as short as 30 minutes (Closing Crew), but most are 90 minutes.  Each CYFA Game Day is best served with about 50 hours of volunteers covering Concessions, The Field, The Booth and Closing Crew.  In order to provide 8 Game Days at Lesley Field, we are asking for only 2 shifts of volunteer time per player for the entire season.  This can be 2 people serving at the same time in the same area, or one person serving on 2 different days.  We ask only for 2 shifts per player.   No one wants to miss their kid’s game, so sign up early to help make CYFA successful.

Please review the descriptions and watch for links to sign-up for a specific CYFA Game Day.

Concessions

  • Help run concession booth for patrons with simple drinks and snacks.

The Field

  • Chain Gang - with 3 volunteers for each game to hold the chains, everyone from players to patrons know where the game is.

  • Prep field for the next game with changes to cones and end zone markers as needed.  Instructions and diagrams provided.

The Booth

  • Color Commentary - Every kid LOVES to hear their name on the speakers, and yes, they hear it.  You don’t have to call plays, simply observations with excitement as appropriate.

  • Eyes on the Game - every good color commentary comes with at least one more set of eyes to help watch what is happening and observe jersey numbers, etc.

  • Scoreboard - training provided, but the control box is fully marked and easy to use.  The booth works best if this is a dedicated volunteer.

Closing Crew - 30 minutes

  • Help close Concession Booth

  • Trash sweep

  • Store field supplies

Game Day Volunteer Sign ups will be on the CYFA Linktree
