7v7 Information

CYFA Spring 7v7 Football

7v7 is a fun, competitive, non-contact method of playing football. The offense consists primarily of passing plays, with running only allowed on 3rd and 4th downs. The intent of 7v7 is to help develop the skills associated with passing, catching, and running routes on offense and coverage on defense. 7v7 is played on a 40 minute running clock without pads and receivers are downed with one-hand touch (there are no flags involved).

The CYFA plays Spring season starting mid-March through the end of April. The North Texas Football League will schedule each team to play two games on Sunday afternoons. K/1 and 2nd will be played at Northwest Old Texan Field and Coppell's Lesley Field. 3rd thru 6th at Medlin Middle School and Byron Nelson in Trophy Club. In the event that games are cancelled, a makeup day weekend is reserved prior to the Championship weekend..

Teams consist of a minimum of 10 kids who are 5 years old - 6th grade. Your player will be drafted to a team by their division coach. Your team’s coach will communicate the practice schedule. Once your child's team is formed your Coach will communicate the practice schedule.

Additional Game Information:

Teams shall play two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute half time in between. The clock shall not stop at anytime during the 20 minute half. There are no time outs unless game is halted due to an injured player being safely removed from the field. Injuries will be notified through the NTFL field monitors and all active games will be temporarily halted to allow for timeout. Your NTFL field monitor will notify teams once games shall resume. All games shall start and end at the same time. Teams will be given 15 minutes to move fields in between time to allow for travel to next playing field. In the event that a team is late; the tardy team shall be penalized 7 points and will play with whatever time if left on the tournament clock. A forfeit will occur 10 minutes into the 1st half. Two referees will be present to monitor the passing clock, game scores and act as field judge.

Spring Practice Expectations

7v7 practices are less intense than fall tackle and will likely be held only once a week. This decision of practice schedule will be made by the head coach of each team.

Fees:

Player Registration $150 per player
Coppell Resident Discount $35 per player The city of Coppell charges a $35 fee for all families who live outside the 75019 zip code
Discount provided for multi-registration families.

Registration fees include one game day shirt.

Waitlists:

On March 1st all registrations will be put on the waitlist and no payment will be required. Our Board will email you once you have been moved off the waitlist into a team. Registration fees will be due at the time of registration unless you are on the waitlist.

Cancellation of Registration:

In the event you need to cancel your registration please send an email to us at [email protected]. We will be able to return a portion of your registration fees pending on timing or cancellation request received:

January: 100% of registration fees

February: 80% of registration fees

March 1st - March 10th: 60% of registration fees

March 11th - March 22nd: 40% of registration fees

March 23rd: 0% of registration fees

About Us

Coppell Youth Football Association (CYFA) is a competitive youth football program open to boys and girls from Kindergarten through 6th grade that live in Coppell, attend a CISD school or live in 75063, 75019 or 75039 zip codes. The CYFA partners with the North Texas Football League to play organized games against other surrounding North Texas premiere youth football associations to provide a premiere youth football experience.

Across each of our seasons and activities, the CYFA focuses on life lessons and to strengthen community. Win or lose, the true intent is to get these boys and girls loving football while teaching them lifelong lessons of teamwork, leadership and respect for each other and their community.

Spring 7v7 Football

Our Spring 7v7 season is a non-contact season where players develop their athleticism around passing, catching and running the ball. A ball carrier is "down" when they are touched by a defender. Kids will need shorts, cleats and a mouth guard to play. Although we are not requiring a USA Football approved soft helmet we do not discourage kids from wearing one. It's is up to each family to decide.

Equipment: Kids will need cleats with plastic football treads and a mouth guard (or two) to participate in the season. Each player will receive a game day t-shirt. Although we do not require soft helmets to play we don't discourage families from buying one if it is needed. We don't anticipate a collision but accidents can happen like in all activities. It's up to each family to decide.

Spring Schedule: Spring 2025 will be 4 weeks with 2 games each game day (3/23; 3/30; 4/6; 4/13; 4/20 rainout weekend or BYE; 4/27 Final Tournament). All games are played on turf fields in Trophy Club at the high school or middle school Sunday afternoons. The league will be playing games come rain or shine unless there is lighting in the area or extreme weather patterns.

Cost to Register: Registration fees are $150 per player. A $35 discount will be applied at checkout for all players who live in the city of Coppell limits. The city of Coppell charges a $35 fee for all families who live outside the 75019 zip code. Registration fees include one game day shirt.

Cancellation of Registration or Late Fees: Registration for spring opens early January and continues through the first weekend of the season in March. On March 1st all registrations will be put on the wait-list and no payment will be required. Our Board will email you once you have been moved off the wait-list into a team. Registration fees will be due at the time of registration unless you are on the wait-list. However, we understand things change and can effect your ability to participate.
