7v7 Information

CYFA Spring 7v7 Football

7v7 is a fun, competitive, non-contact method of playing football. The offense consists primarily of passing plays, with running only allowed on 3rd and 4th downs. The intent of 7v7 is to help develop the skills associated with passing, catching, and running routes on offense and coverage on defense. 7v7 is played on a 30 minute running clock without pads and receivers are downed with one-hand touch (there are no flags involved).

The CYFA plays Spring season starting end of March through Mid-May. The North Texas Football League will schedule each team to play two games on Sunday afternoons, with one Sunday consisting of 3 games. K thru 6th will be played at Northwest Old Texan Field. In the event that games are cancelled, a makeup day weekend is reserved prior to the Championship weekend..

Teams consist of a minimum of 10 kids who are 5 years old - 6th grade. Your player will be drafted to a team by their division coach. Your team’s coach will communicate the practice schedule. Once your child's team is formed your Coach will communicate the practice schedule.

Additional Game Information:

Teams shall play two 15 minute halves with a 5 minute half time in between. The clock shall not stop at anytime during the 15 minute half. There are no time outs unless game is halted due to an injured player being safely removed from the field. Injuries will be notified through the NTFL field monitors and all active games will be temporarily halted to allow for timeout. Your NTFL field monitor will notify teams once games shall resume. All games shall start and end at the same time. Teams will be given 15 minutes to move fields in between time to allow for travel to next playing field. In the event that a team is late; the tardy team shall be penalized 7 points and will play with whatever time if left on the tournament clock. A forfeit will occur 10 minutes into the 1st half. Two referees will be present to monitor the passing clock, game scores and act as field judge.

Spring Practice Expectations

7v7 practices are less intense than fall tackle and will likely be held only once a week. This decision of practice schedule will be made by the head coach of each team.

Residency Requirements

In order to play with Coppell Youth Football Association, players must meet residency requirement. This may be accomplished by one of the following methods:

1. Reside within Coppell, TX. Parent/Guardian of record must have residence within City of Coppell.
2. Attend Coppell ISD school.

Spring 2026 Fees & Equipment

Soft Shelled helmet (if so desired) - sample

Each player will receive a game day t-shirt from CYFA

Fees:

Player Registration $160 per player
Coppell Resident Discount $20 per player The city of Coppell charges a $35 fee for all families who live outside the 75019 zip code
Discount provided for multi-registration families.

Registration fees include one game day shirt.

Waitlists:

On March 1st all registrations will be put on the waitlist and no payment will be required. Our Board will email you once you have been moved off the waitlist into a team. Registration fees will be due at the time of registration unless you are on the waitlist.

About Us

Coppell Youth Football Association (CYFA) is a competitive youth football program open to boys and girls from Kindergarten through 6th grade that live in Coppell, attend a CISD school, or live in 75063, 75019 or 75039 zip codes. The CYFA partners with the North Texas Football League to play organized games against other surrounding North Texas premiere youth football associations to provide a premiere youth football experience.

Across all of our seasons and activities, CYFA is focused on teaching life lessons and strengthening our community’s love of football. Whether we win or lose, our goal is for every boy and girl to enjoy the game while learning lifelong values like teamwork, leadership, and respect for one another and their community.

Spring 7v7 Football

Our Spring 7v7 season is a non-contact season where players develop their athleticism around passing, catching and running the ball. A ball carrier is "down" when they are touched by a defender. Each player will need black shorts without pockets, cleats, and a mouth guard to play. A USA Football–approved soft-shelled helmet is not required, but families may choose to use one if they feel it is right for their player.

Equipment: Each player will receive one game day t-shirt for the Spring 7v7 season. In addition, each player will need to purchase their own cleats with plastic football treads, a minimum of one mouth guard, and black shorts without pockets to participate in the season. Soft shelled helmets are optional. Although collisions are not expected, accidents are possible in any activity.

Spring Schedule: Spring 2026 will be 5 weeks with 2 games each game day (tentatively set on 3/29; 4/12; 4/19; 4/26; 5/3; 5/10 rainout makeup weekend or BYE; 5/17 Final Tournament). All games are played on turf fields and are scheduled to be played at Northwest Old Texan Field on Sundays. Games will be played rain or shine, except in cases of lightning or extreme weather.

Cost to Register: A registration fee of $160 is due at the time of registration and includes one game day t-shirt per registered player. A $20 discount will be applied at checkout for all players who live in the city of Coppell limits. The city of Coppell charges a $35 fee for all families who live outside the 75019 zip code.

Cancellation of Registration or Late Fees: Spring registration opens February 1st and ends on February 28th. Beginning March 1st, all new registrations will be placed on a wait list with no payment required. Our Board will email you if and when you’re moved off the waitlist and placed on a team.

Registration fees are due at the time of registration unless you are on the waitlist. We understand plans can change, so if you need to cancel, please email us at [email protected].
